Winter in Maine: A time for painting and reflection
Winter in Maine is a respite from the summer art of schlepping paintings from gallery to gallery, from show to show in hopes of capturing the hearts and minds of the many visitors to Maine each season
. This season even the winter galleries are closed due to COVID. Creators in Maine are more isolated than ever and using the time to paint and reflect.
The past two weeks I have worked on a series of paintings of a still life assemblage in my home. These were inspired by Virginia artist, Marsha Staiger, a teacher at the Art League in Alexandria, VA who is offering ZOOM classes. Marsha challenged us to paint from a black and white photo and produce some abstract work.
